Rescue Mission becomes shelter due to frigid temps

The Rescue Mission has opened its doors for the last couple days and become an overnight shelter for those who need a warm place to stay. Donovan Coley, Rescue Mission CEO, said the organization’s emergency dorm sleeps about 50 people, but they were expecting about 100 individuals Wednesday night.

Thanksgiving in Fort Wayne

The Rescue Mission fed 3,000 meals to those in need on Thursday. The shelter cooked 160 turkeys, went through 20 crates of mashed potatoes and 20 crates of green beans. The Thanksgiving meal was funded primarily through donations and prepared by volunteers.

Radio station raises more than $60,000 for Rescue Mission

Listeners of a Fort Wayne radio station donated more than $63,000 over just a couple days for the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission, the station reported. Leaders at Star 88.3 decided to raise the money in response to the recent homeless evictions downtown and the extremely cold weather.
