You must be homeless (without a permanent address or name on a lease agreement).
You must be age 18 or older (or the dependent child of a Charis House applicant over age 18).
You must be a resident of Allen County or one of the 9 surrounding counties for at least six months to be considered for our Long-Term Transformational Program.
You must not be a Community Corrections client - they do not qualify for our program.
You must not have been convicted of harm to a child/sexual abuse in the past to participate in Long-Term programs.
If you have finances available to use (SSI, SSD, etc.), you must be willing to be accountable for the expenditure of any funds.
You must complete an interview with a Case Manager to see if you meet our criteria and have a bed available. We do not have a waiting list. We take people on a first come-first served basis.
You need to be willing to follow all of our house guidelines and be able to complete daily household chores.
You need to be physically and mentally able to live in a community environment without significant staff assistance.
If you are interested in the Long-Term Transformational Program you will need to commit to the following requirements:
Identify a significant issue (that has caused you problems in your life) that you are willing to change
Give up employment, if applicable
Remain alcohol and drug free throughout the program
Follow through with all requirements of the previous programs
You need to be willing to complete a drug screen/breathalyzer when you arrive and, if accepted, random drug screens/breathalyzers throughout your stay.
You need to be willing to comply with a two week “house support” status upon entering (if determined necessary). This means that you can only leave the house for approved reasons (Church, Dr. appointments, court/probation appointments, etc.).
